San Pedro Getting Anti-Tagging "Tag Teams"

New, 4 comments

Yesterday, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn announced the formation of the "tag teams" a mobile service that'll roam around San Pedo and Wilmington and erase new graffiti within 24 hours of its appearance. The crews will be made up of two to three people each, and be overseen by the Gang Alternatives Program. Doug Semark, executive director of GAP tells the Daily Breeze that gangs are tagging as a way to test the waters of "virgin territory" like Point Fermin in southern San Pedro; meanwhile, at least one property owner, Mona Sutton, owner of the Omelette and Waffle Shop at Gaffey and 11th streets, tells the paper that private property owners need to be more vigilant in erasing the tagging.
