Historic preservation is rearing its ugly, snarling head in WeHo. An application has been filed with the city to have the former Tower Records site declared historic. Domenic Priore, author of Riot on Sunset Strip: Rock'N'Roll's Last Stand in Hollywood (that's some excellent foreshadowing), is the man behind the application. However, because the city received the application to build a new David Barton Gym/office building on the site first, it will only consider the historic designation application if the original project is denied. We hope this battle results in Mr. Priore chaining himself to the storefront, with David Barton and his massive arms tearing down the Tower Records brick-by-brick behind him. That would be our Christmas.
