Our readers and their "friends" are so fickle. Content with your rent, until something newer and shinier comes along. A reader wants to know if it's legal to cancel a lease agreement after its been signed if something better falls into his lap:
hey curbed. it is my understanding that the state of california has a cancellation period for almost any contract filed within the state. Some can be up to 30 days after signing. my question is, would this apply to a lease agreement. One of my buddies at work just got a call from a renter about an apartment that is better then the one he just signed for. I mentioned the contract cancellation thing, but I'm not 100% if it works for lease agreements as well.
