Perino's: Hancock Park's Rental Building With A Past

New, 12 comments

The Larchmont Chronicle rehashes the story of Perino’s, a former restaurant at 635 S. Norton Ave. that also has been the location of many movies, including “Bugsy,” “Chaplin” and “Mommie Dearest" and which is now a 47-unit rental building (units range from $1,995 to $5,995). At one point, the owners wanted to turn the former restaurant, which closed in 1985, into a dance club or new restaurant, but Windsor Square and Hancock Park residents wouldn't have it, according to the paper. Meanwhile, in planning the rental building, architects tried to evoke its past by adding a curving staircase, crystal chandeliers, and sconces. But there aren't as many old-looking details, at least judging from the web site, on the building's exterior.
