The Downtown News rounds up the latest news on the much-discussed MTA Downtown Regional Connector, a link for existing and upcoming lines (including the Gold Line) that will hopefully contribute to creating a speedy, zippy downtown LA. The MTA is considering an above ground or at-grade light-rail or a subway; the project is estimated to cost between $250 million-$800 million, no funding sources identified; the whole thing is at least 10 years away; a Bunker Hill station adjacent to Grand Avenue may be built; and a final report will be done by July 2008. Plus: Trolley news! Officials are debating how the "Downtown Connector might complement a proposed Red Car trolley that would run along First Street to Broadway, Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street."
