Keeping Up With Weintraub: Malibu Lumber Yard, Sportsmen's Lodge, Vibiana

New, 3 comments

The Los Angeles Business Journal's profile on Richard Weintraub includes info on the developer's own Malibu Greek-style pool house, a 3,500-square-foot structure with seashell encrusted fixtures and an indoor swimming pool. And there's some information on Weintraub's latest projects:
--Malibu Lumber Yard : A two-story, 15-store, high-end retail center breaking ground on a 2.7-acre parcel at PCH and Cross Creek Road. Expect a lot of expensive clothing stores.
--Sportsmen's Lodge: Located at 12825 Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, Weintraub is planning to add retail space to the nearly 10-acre site. The hotel will keep its name, have about 200 rooms and offer moderate to high-end priced rooms. Sherman Oaks residents are worried about traffic, notes LABJ, and the project could face opposition.
-- Vibiana Lofts, a 44-story tower entitled for 300 units next to the St. Vibiana Cathedral in downtown. Weintraub tells LABJ he has been in talks with a "world-class architect" but also notes he is keeping an eye on how downtown reacts to market conditions.
