That's Rather Hideous: Colorful Condo in Hollywood

New, 16 comments

We are once again plagiarizing inspired by the mothership for our inaugural That's Rather Hideous. This feature examines questionable decisions in interior design as revealed in listing photos. Nominees, please, to la@curbed.com.

Where to begin? There is so much that is misguided in this cornucopia of fug - a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath condo in Versailles Tower in Hollywood. We'll start with the living room, where all of your Craigslist cast-offs seem to have found a happy home. The owner of this place clearly doesn't believe in using the same color twice. And is that a cheap aquarium we spy? The owner also seems to have an unnatural attachment to wrought iron curlicues, as you'll see in the rest of the photos. But the hideousity in the living room is just the beginning...

We already have issues with bowl sinks, since we fear they will look awfully "millenial" in a few years. But this seller can't seem to decide if he (or she) wants a bowl sink, something flush with the counter, or some sort of faux-italianate glass mosaic. So she (we're going to go with she based on purely on the bedroom lamps) combined them all into one. Good thinking. And have we ever mentioned our irrational hatred of glass block windows used in anything other than Miami Deco?

So much wrought iron as a decorative element. So rustic. So elegant.

Well at least the view isn't too bad. Oh, well, nevermind....
