Expo Line Needs More Money!! We Never Saw That Coming.

New, 6 comments

The LA Times is reporting that the Expo Light Rail Line connecting Culver City to Downtown LA is in serious need of cash infusion.

Transit officials today said they need an additional $145 million to build the Expo Line light rail system from downtown L.A. to Culver City, saying rising construction costs are largely to blame. Despite evidence of rising costs, transit officials had been lowballing their projections of the annual increase in labor and materials for the $640-million project.

If the money isn't found, the Expo Line will make it to La Cienega and then stop, just short of the Washington/National station. Good grief. This almost makes us forget about the extra $40 million needed to finish the LAPD headquarters downtown.
