TMZ is reporting that Malibu Castle, aka Castle Kashan, which was listed for sale for $17 million, was in escrow "and set to have the final walk-through on Wednesday." The deal was expected to be finalized this Friday, according to the gossip news site. Crap luck. But blog Big Time Listings raises some eyebrows at that report, and indeed, TMZ.com also reports that homeowner Lilly Lawrence wasn't home at the time, disputing a LA Times story that Lawrence "was trapped inside her sprawling home with a house guest as the building burned around 6:30 a.m." Via the Times: "They couldn't leave because the fire was blowing through the canyon. It was too dangerous," said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Dennis Cross.
