WeHo: Worship like a Mid-Century Power Celeb

What does a temple where Edward G. Robinson, Eddie Cantor, Max Factor and Joe Pasternak worshipped have in common with a temple for immigrant Iranians in 2007? Just about everything, if it's Hollywood Temple Beth-El on Crescent Heights Blvd. Karmel Melamed posts 15 photos and explains: "It was as if I had stepped into a different point in time as the interior decor has remained the same but is now filled with Iranian Jews instead of American Jews." The Iranian American Jewish Federation purchased the site--1,200 seats, 20 classrooms--for $2.8 million in 1999.
