Storefronting: Tattoos, Babies and Snowboards

DOWNTOWN: Sphinx Studio, a tattoo/piercing studio/art gallery located at 438 Main Street-- just down the street from Pete's at 4th and Main--is scheduled to open today. Owner Edgar tells us he opened the store because there's a lack of tattoo parlors in the area; go for the niche marketing, people! Bigger shot after the jump.

LARCHMONT: Read this to feel really old: Child actress Soleil Moon Frye, 31, who is four months pregnant with her second child, opened The Little Seed, an eco-friendly children's store in Larchmont Village. "I had such a hard time finding great organic and non-toxic items for my daughter," Frye tells People. "I wanted to create a place where parents can come and find products that are safe for their children, as well as good for the planet." [People]

LOS ANGELES: A little teaser: Snowboard company Burton plans to open a store in Los Angeles in fall 2007, according to this "board sports" trade magazine. Donde, Burton? UPDATE: Comment below indicates it's an 11,500 square foot store opening on Melrose in November.
