We’ve stumbled upon a new website, Rentometer, which appears to be the bastard red-haired stepchild of the ubiquitous Zillow. Enter your location and rent amount, and Rentometer tells you how your rent compares to others in your neighborhood. It also gives you a pretty “meter” graphic and an unsubstantiated opinion on whether you are getting a good deal, an average deal, or are getting screwed. This site is run by a property management company, and we have no idea how they make their assessments. Perhaps a team of recently unemployed realtors are sitting at terminals chomping at the bit to give the next user their opinions. Anyway, take it for what it’s worth: a few minutes of amusement that may make you feel vindicated or irate.
