The Wall Street Journal (via Luxist) reports two adjacent cattle ranches in Santa Barbara county have been sold, in what is now California's largest non-commercial real estate deal. Cojo Ranch (where they raise flamboyantly gay fashion critics, apparently) and Jalama Ranch have been sold for close to their $155 million asking price to a Los Angeles investment group. The two ranches comprise about 25,000 acres, including nine miles of prized coastline.
This deal trumps the previous record-holder for largest non-commercial transaction, when Oprah bought a $50 million Montecito estate in 2001. Her compound is only 42 acres, which suddenly makes those 25,000 acres look like a bargain.
After the jump, more pictures of rolling green hills and, yup, a barn.
