Green Building and God Converge Downtown

[Picture Credit: Downtown, LA - Bleeding Jesus by Deborah Martin]

Downtown already has one "green" church, built with solar panels on its roof. Now Globe St reports the Methodists will not be outdone by the Catholics, with plans for a $60 million mixed use project that will also house the First United Methodist Church congregation. The project will possibly include "affordable and market rate housing, office space and a sky chapel and sanctuary that could be used by other local groups and congregations." What makes this project a bit unusual, however, is the project will be developed according to LEED standards. What Would Jesus Do? He'd build energy-efficient, water-saving, sustainable-materials using mixed used development downtown, apparently.
