After last year's unfortunate public breakup with the Hilton Family group of hotels, the long-planned Convention Center hotel recently returned to the public eye with a new slimmer figure. Sources say new beau Marriott International isn't interested in fatties, and prompted the planned hotel to shed some un-needed pounds, er, rooms. Sound familiar, Kirstie? The svelte new plan calls for a slender 1000 rooms, a marked difference from those puffy Hilton days when the hotel packed in 1200 rooms. Anna Nicole should be so lucky.
Located on the site of AEG's la Live, the 54-story hotel is branded with the Marriott Marquis impramatur and boasts a separate Ritz-Carlton facility. The total project cost of $750 million includes 216 residential condos developed by KB Urban.
