Ride the Bus Like Us

LA Observed blogs about another Daily News staffer taking the bus to work instead of driving. Mariel Garza has joined the Orange Line riding contingent. And we can announce that after watching "An Inconvenient Truth" we've also rededicated ourselves to riding the Orange Line at least twice a week. Of course it has its drawbacks. In addition to being stuck in an enclosed space with Daily News writers, the commute from Hollywood to Woodland Hills has doubled from 45 minutes on the 101 to 1.5 hours riding the Red Line and transferring to the Orange Line. We're always late to work. And when we fall asleep, we occassionally wake with a jolt and people look at us like we're having a seizure. But it's for our stupid planet, so we'll suffer.
