Is Joel Kotkin moonlighting under the pseudonym Ann Brenoff? Because this LATimes article on real estate bargains sounds like it could have come straight from the UC Irvine Senior Fellows mouth. "Brenoff's" big finding: California real estate is overpriced; for a bargain look eastward to cities like Columbia S.C. and Boise, Idaho - exactly the kind of "no-nonsense, middlebrow places" Kotkin loves to promote. Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen Kotkin and Brenoff at the same place at the same time? Yeah, we didn't think so.
