One of the more welcome changes to downtown is the development of nightlife. Cedd Moses seems to have cornered the market on refurbishing decrepit downtown bars into brand spanking-new watering holes, but LA's former mayor, Richard Riordan senses an opportunity as well. The latest rumor is that Riordan plans to expand the always-open, belly-busting stalwart, The Original Pantry Cafe, with an adjacent "New York Style" bar. We're not sure exactly what that means, but being able to stumble from bar to buckwheat pancakes in 30 seconds or less sounds good to us.
