Angelenos on the south side of the hills have often said that The Valley is a dump (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves). Sometimes insults become realities. New trash transfer and recycling stations are planned for Sun Valley, already the home of the Bradley Landfill, which plans to expand. With the proposed expansion, Sun Valley will receive up to 17,200 tons of trash daily. Naturally, NIMBYism has descended on the area, and residents want to make L.A.’s trash someone else’s problem sure policy makers are considering the impacts of the expansion. The upside for Sun Valley? People will know it as “the dump," a rather hip moniker.
