Blight buster Councilman Dennis Zine is on the warpath again. This time he's taking on those "by the hour" motels synonymous with prostitutes and anonymous sexual encounters with people you just met, but are kind of cute, but you certainly don't want in your house. As NBC4 reports, Zine introduced a plan on January 20th to curb these sex shacks.
In an effort to crack down on prostitution, a City Council committee signed off Monday on a proposed ordinance that would prohibit hotel operators from renting rooms by the hour. The council's Public Safety Committee voted 5-0 to ask the city attorney to draft the ordinance, which would also require hotel owners to maintain comprehensive guest records and train employees on guest check-in procedures.
The motion must still be approved by the full City Council.
We hope the Council acts fast and hard.
