The Biggest Price Losers #007

You get the point (and so do we) that prices in and around L.A. are going ker-plunk, right into the toilet. But we couldn't help but wonder: are sellers in the I.E. getting the reality slap that the rest of us closer to the ocean are feeling? As it turns out, it’s not all roses and honey in Ontario, this week’s featured locale. We're looking at homes priced between $500,000 and $1 million.

2964 E. Big Range Road
Days on Market: 141
Original List Price: $665,000
Sale Price: $595,000
Percent Reduction: 10.5%
Cheap fixtures. Fake rock siding. Homogeneous subdivision. All these can be yours for a newly lowered price that still exceeds reality!

323 Marin Pravado
Days on Market: 192
Original List Price: $749,000
Sale Price: $659,900
Percent Reduction: 11.9%
The realtor calls this “value range pricing.” We call it panic to get rid of the house so the bank doesn’t foreclose.

2988 E. Big Range Road
Days on Market: 178
Original List Price: $720,000
Sale Price: $615,000
Percent Reduction: 14.6%
We’re not sure why this tract home would ever be worth $720k… or even $615k for that matter. Ah-ha! It must be that wonderful mauve carpet. Nothing says “buy me now” like purple-hued flooring.
