CurbedWire: Stars and Sunset

Development: First, in regards to the Maguire tower being built downtown, an inside source says the project appears to be an actual project, at least from the City's perspective. "Well I can't say how the numbers rationalize it, but Maguire has retained Keating-Khang to draw up conceptional drawings suitable for discussion with city officials for the new high-rise 50-story near 7th/fig downtown. Keating Khang confirmed this in a meeting with the city regarding a different project. The Pasadena architecture firm is responsible for the Californian (recently constructed) and the Wilshire Club View (under construction) residential high-rises on the Wilshire Corridor in Westwood/W LA."

Celebrity Watch: Want to be just like a celebrity? Us neither. However, if you fancy yourself a starf*cker, LA.com is now providing readers like you with a celebrity guidebook of sorts. "We've started a new series of celebrity-centric guides on LA.com that lists where A-listers like to shop, eat, party and so forth." LA.com's first guide is about super waify Nicole Richie. Wow, she actually goes to restaurants.

Development: We were disappointed to hear about the less than stellar appraisal of the Sunset Silver Lake Lofts project from a reader. We kind of like the location and the look and wish we were in the market to buy a unit. Another insider offers this additional meme. "I think Kor's high design reputation should reassure buyers that it will look fabulous, but I know... that this is a Kor project that is not being done by Kelly Wearstler/KWID, the interior designer who is married to Brad Korzen (Kor's founder) and is responsible for the look of the hotels as well as the other Kor developments (Eastern Columbia, Hollywood & Vine).... so it may be a cheaper or more minimal look than the Kor buyer is expecting."
