The Griffith Observatory closed for renovations long before we moved to this fair city, but after much anticipation, the new and improved Observatory will open to the public on November 3. Today, a lucky Mayor Villaraigosa got a tour of Griffith 2.0. Much of the original architecture and artwork was restored, but the new Observatory features a classroom and a bookstore. It also has a new café by L.A.’s favorite restaurateur Wolfgang Puck. But don’t race up the hill on November 3 to be one of the first to see the new digs. Visitors will now be shuttled up in a bus for which they must make a reservation beforehand. Getting reservations for L.A.’s newest sight: good luck!
