A reader provided us with a press release about the latest development from Kor Development. Located at 510-530 Hewitt St. in the Arts District, Barker Block will offer downtown dwellers with something new and unique: live/work lofts. We’re not even sure what “live/work” means these days, but it seems to be the marketing phrase du jour. These 297 lofts will be inside what once were the Barker Brothers furniture factories and warehouses and will come with all of the typical loft features: exposed brick, wood beams, and concrete floors. We like what we see, but we’re not so sure that too many artists will be taking up residence.
