The killer funicular, Angel's Flight, on Bunker Hill - the one with the fatal accident five years ago that killed a passenger and has been closed ever since - may soon reopen. Like a wayward child, the city has asked the MTA to look into caring for it, nurturing it, and possibly reopening it. According to Jan Perry, the MTA has already invested over $4 million to restore the tourist attraction. However, the shadow non-profit organization Angels Flight Foundation is fighting to keep the funicular private.
But imagine if it did reopen soon - this would be a banner year for reopened landmarks with (excuse the pun) killer views: the Getty Villa, the upcoming Griffith Observatory, and then Angel's Flight? Its just too much to ask for.
