Rumblings & Bumblings Responses: Diehardest

Hey! We just remembered its Thursday! That means weekend binge drinking will commence shortly, Grey's Anatomy will suck again, and its time to answer Tuesday's R&B. It was a quiet week for questions, and you berated us appropriately, so send us better ones for next week here.

1) Downtown: We were told only a moron could ask such a stupid question, but worse than the moron who asks the question, is the one who posts it. Well, we're about to hop on the short bus and drive through downtown, to find the answer to this one: "taking the 4th street exit off the 110, i was a bit stunned to see the words 'TOLL PLAZA' and some other signage before olive street, making it appear as if it will now cost some dollars to enter downtown in the near future." You can thank Bruce Willis and that self-satisfied prick who plays the Mac in those Apple commercials for this one: Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard seems to be responsible for this crime against motorists (not to mention cineastes) everywhere. Yup, the toll plaza signs are props for the next chapter in John McClane's battle against terrorists, now filming downtown, coming to a cineplex near you soon.

2) Hollywood: Ah, a simpler question with a simpler response: "What's planned for the recently sold lot at the corner of Hollywood and Van Ness? its just an ugly weed infested lot now with a chain link fence." One reader writes in with answer: "This lot is owned by Bond Companies. It’s working through the last stages of entitlement for a mixed use, condo development – much to the chagrin of crazy neighbors who have alternately demanded a parking lot and a park. They should be ready to start construction in the next 6 – 8 months.

Remember kids, when in doubt, mixed use is always the answer!

Thanks for playing. Now where's my helmet?
