Out with the Old...

(picture from FranklinAvenue)

Franklin Avenue and LAist give due respects to the completed demolition of the Ambassador Hotel. All that remains now is the Cocoanut Grove (pictured above) and a pile of rubble. Where the hotel once stood a new school for our adorable children will rise. The Grove will be adapted into a gym or auditorium or something. Imagine, kids playing volleyball or performing South Pacific on the site where Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra might have thrown up on each other after one too many scotches.

From the forums at we get a rendering of what the new school will look like as viewed from Wilshire. And a model of the entire site, as proposed, here.
