The Los Angeles Business Journal ticks off the 25 biggest projects currently underway or planned in the LA metro area, and as usual Jack Kyser, Chief Economist for the LA County EDC, is quoted on the surge in development: ?There?s just a lot of stuff going on.? Way to phone it in, Jack.
The list includes a broad range of projects including two new LAUSD high schools, the Orange Line, the expansion of the Gold Line into East LA, the new Expo Line from Downtown to Culver City, and the mixed-use NOHO Commons project in North Hollywood (pictured right).
Two projects break the billion dollar barrier - the LA Live project next to the Staples Center (a.k.a. Times Square West), and of course the Grand Avenue Project from The Related Companies and Frank Gehry.
Of course the big projects get all the attention, but the real money is flowing from small homeowners redoing their kitchens and what-nots, in an orgy of home makeovers that only Doug and Hildi could love.
