Downtown-centric blogs are all aflutter about the bizarre abbreviations used by downtown?s new signage program, which hopes to eventually install 1,300 signs to help pedestrian navigation. The first round of signs are relatively well-designed and use handy icons to represent different districts. Yet Downtown News and blogdowntown suggest with no small amount of snarkiness that "Spring St Hist/Fin", for example, might not be the best way to direct visitors to the historic financial district on Spring Street.
