In a case of regret, we look at this rendering of what Parker Center, the new LAPD headquarters on First Street, could have looked like. Actually, we're not sure how close this design was to becoming reality but the folks at Skyscraper Forum posted the rendering so we're sharing it too.
It's not that the real design is ugly (pic after the jump), which it certainly isnt, its just not as inspiring as the one above. We'd be happy to be confess our crimes just to go to the building above. Your loss LAPD.

Although Downtown's burgeoning residential community failed to turn the old CalTrans site into a civic park, the new design does open up space for people to relax and intermingle, and even provides some street level space for commercial activity. The last thing Downtown needs is another pedestrian deadzone.
