Orange Line: On to Burbank.

A Burbank Transportation Commissioner is proposing an extension of the Orange Line to the Burbank Airport. What, you ask, a public official calling for better integration of our public transportation system? We know it's rare in Los Angeles, but apparently the smarties all end up in Burbank.

"We need better public transportation links to the Bob Hope Airport," said [Commissioner Paul Dyson], also the director of the Rail Passenger Association of California, a nonprofit public transportation lobbying group. "Extensions to existing systems like the Orange Line can be implemented in a short time frame and at a reasonable cost," he said.

The proposal would extend the Orange Line from the Lankershim Blvd. station in North Hollywood to the existing Metrolink station near the airport. Mayor Villaraigosa has given his support to the idea, but the cost of the extension has yet to be determined.
