Insecurity Over Security Building Lofts

In response to a question about the status of the Security Building Lofts, a poster to the Newdowntown listserv explains problems with the adaptive-reuse of the 1911 building that have delayed the opening of the lofts to potential residents.

Subject: RE: Any apartments or lofts available? The original proposed date to open was sep 1st 05. Little by little they have been lagging on flooring, construction, management, etc. They have only finished 2 floors and are looking at a couple more months of delay. The freight elevator for the penthouses isnt even running (12 floor is ready but they wont let you in). It is just a big, nasty, mess. Be very careful if you are planing on renting there.

The project developer, Urban Pacific Builders, makes no mention of delays on their site, although the target completion date has come and gone. And the UPB Blog (yes, they have a blog!) hasn't been updated since October. We look forward to input from our Downtown readers, who I'm sure will have nothing but kind words about this project.
