Following-up on his recent disclosure that cameras at Los Angeles intersections (designed to capture red-light runners) have been non-functioning since June, Councilman Dennis Zine (CD3) has now focused his attention on eradicating wayward shopping carts cluttering sidewalks, medians, and other clutterable areas. According to the CityWatch Newsletter, Zine is championing a pilot program in which the city will monitor neighborhoods in his district for shopping carts. If identified carts are not retrieved by the owner after 24 hours, the carts will be impounded. Cart blight is a serious issue.
