Using Craigslist's RSS Feed, RentSlicer has taken statistical analysis of our rental market to a whole new level. The usual suspects make up the most expensive markets: Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Manhattan Beach; while the cheapest markets hop-scotch all over the southland, from the Valley (Panorama City) to the South Bay (Hawthorne) to the east San Gabriel Valley (Whittier). The average 1 bedroom apartment now goes for $1,222.61, and good news for all (except landlords), the median rental price has changed very little in the last six months.
