Yesterday, Curbed took a fieldtrip to The Grove to experience the Christmas spirit first hand. Our cold, dead heart was nearly filled with the Christmas spirit, but after hours of waiting to see the stupid Christmas Tree lit, we think we're as bitter as ever. The highlight of the event of course was seeing lifestyle mall developer Rick Caruso and his wife singing Christmas songs along with Mayor Villaraigosa. Teri Hatcher, of Desperate Housewives fame, hosted the event with special guest stars Tyler Hilton and Wilmer Valderamma. The teeny-boppers screamed their pre-pubescent heads off for the former, not so much the latter.
As one of our companions noted, it was a quintessential LA experience: A fake Christmas celebration (staged for TV) in November on a fake street with fake snow in 80 degree weather, and Wilmer Valderrama. If you missed the festivities, the tree lighting will be broadcast December 3rd on Channel 2. Sweet.
