The biggest thing to hit the Valley since Encino Man opened this weekend with large crowds of people waiting in line to get a chance to ride along the 14-mile Orange Line route. We at Curbed LA took the 40-minute trip from the North Hollywood station to Warner Center, bringing along several friends who had never seen the Valley up close. The ride went smoothly (no collisions) and everyone on the bus seemed cheerful.
"Every single bus today has been standing-room only, every single bus yesterday standing-room only," said Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, a member of the MTA board. "That is a vote of confidence. And it's also an indication of how the Valley has thirsted for public transit."
The Orange Line starts charging fare today, with commensurate drop in ridership soon to follow.
