Mass confusion in the Curbed offices. Yesterday, we reported, in response to a Rumblings & Bumblings question, that Ace Gallery was moving into the old La Brea car dealership building. We even called to verify! But today a gent emails in to refute that claim, stating Trader Joe's may actually be the new tenant.
The dealership under renovation has been leased by Trader Joes. They will move the store two blocks down from their store at La Brea and 3rd.
While construction on the new Pinkberry seems to be on hold and we still don't know what's moving into the former Virgin Megastore space, improvements -- cosmetic and otherwise -- continue apace at 8000 Sunset, the three-story retail and office center at Crescent Heights. The new Trader Joe's space is moving along briskly, there are concrete planters positioned all over the plaza and look like they'll be installed in the next few days, and more of those mysterious metal barriers have been installed. The rumors have been circulating for awhile now. Finally, there's confirmation. Trader Joe's is indeed moving into 8000 Sunset on the corner of Crescent Heights. A Friend of Curbed just sent us this ABC application after seeing the public notice go up a couple of days ago. Perhaps some two-buck chuck will ease the pain of an already nightmarish parking situation about to get even rougher.

[all pictures of Madrone model shot by reader "s". God bless their soul.]
A trusted reader (not STARCHY), emailed with more info on the Madrone development in Hollywood that was mentioned earlier this week. The models are out and info on retail is starting to leak. Trader Joe's not going in after all?? Lots to discuss. Via email:
I just left my appointment at the Madrone sales office in the Roosevelt Hotel. They have a very cool simulation of all the units, the views and the amenities.
Price for the 2 bdrm corner unit I looked at which is on the top floor of the south tower is starting at $860K. The 3 bdrm units start around $940K, but there aren't many of them. One bedroom/Den seem to start around low $600's-$725K. The only units priced under 600K are for studios, but at 850 sq ft, they're big.
