Storm's a-brewin', Los Angeles, and it's gonna be a nasty one. The Bay Area was slammed today with power outages, flooding, and toppled trees during what the Chronicle called the "biggest storm to hit the drought-ravaged state in years," and now it's coming our way. The storm is at the end of an "atmospheric river," which Scientific American explains is "a conveyor belt of vapor that extends thousands of miles from out at sea, carrying as much water as 15 Mississippi Rivers" (minor versions are better known as Pineapple Expresses). It will roll into Los Angeles tonight and might just be "twice as strong as last week's storm," according to the LA Times (it was very strong). But for now it is calm and the sky is weird and cool. This is the calm before the storm. Enjoy it.
