Did that view look familiar to you? It certainly jumped out at reader Matt Nelson, who very quickly guessed that this is Eighth and Garland streets just west of the 110 Freeway. The liquor store in the east-facing picture still remains, though it's now a meeting place for Alcoholics Anonymous. The building just east of that—the white building with awnings—appears to be extant as well; a search of public records shows the structure that's now a banquet hall dates back to 1922. As for the skyline, the changes are myriad.
