Following an Arts District "uproar" over plans for the AMP Lofts at Santa Fe and Seventh, the mixed-use complex has gotten yet another design overhaul (residents complained about the lack of open space and the "imposing" dual elevator towers of a previous design, among other things). The Downtown News says the latest version of the project will have 320 live/work apartments (up from 240), a community garden, a 5,000-square-foot "artisan workshop," a parklet, 390 parking spaces (at least some of which will be underground), a paseo, a dog run, and 20,000 square feet of retail space, each with "a front porch-type area." Charming!
Two seven-story buildings will flank the project at its northernmost and southernmost sides; in between, there will be two-and three-story buildings. The new design has 60,000 square feet of open space--around three times more than the former design had provided.
The $130-million project, from Bolour Associates and Crescenta Capital Partners, is expected to break ground between late 2015 and mid-2016, and have all construction wrapped up by 2018.
