WTF some one lit a Palm Tree on fire at Echo Park https://t.co/KcxqqUECQC

If you were anywhere in Los Angeles on Friday night, chance are very good that you heard a lot of explosions and smelled a lot of sulphur. You probably also saw at least one palm tree that had been set on fire by wayward illegal fireworks, as they appeared like teetering candles all across town, from Echo Park to Florence. Why did it seem like there were so many trees on fire this year? Is it that the palms are extra-crispy and more inflammable due to the serious drought going on or that Angelenos have gotten faster with their cameraphones? Whatever the answer, it's both incredible and scary to see, especially for those who live in proximity of lots of palms. We've collected some of our favorite burning tree shots as a purely cautionary tale.
