LA was named the ninth best city for transit, per Walk Score, but, as usual with these kind of lists, take it with a grain of salt. The site, which calculates the pedestrian-friendliness of neighborhoods and cities, looked at the transit options in American metropolises with more than half a million people (that's about 33 cities). With a score of 50 out of 100, LA beat out snobby Portland, but came out behind old-timey Baltimore, according to the site's mysterious algorithms. One thing to keep in mind: Walk Score does not take into account satellite cities, so places like Pasadena, Long Beach, Culver City, West Hollywood, and Santa Monica—all with rail and/or extensive bus service—are not included in LA's transit scores, nor in the city's Walk Score ranking.
