The $6-million, decades-in-the-making pedestrian/equestrian bridge that will connect north Atwater Village to Griffith Park was approved by the City Council this week. The La Kretz Bridge will make it easier to get across the LA River and into Griffith Park--some equestrians try to cross the river themselves, sometimes injuring their horses in the process. Work should begin in the spring and take 10 months. [KCET]
