Another South Park parking lot will bite the dust when the 96-unit Urban Village, South Park project breaks ground near Olive and Olympic. The developer, simply named Urban Village (they're the group behind a new mixed-user in Long Beach), says entitlements and acquisition are all set and there are just a few things left to do before work starts in September. The site is directly behind the Crash Mansion nightclub, which is currently getting torn down--Urban Village didn't immediately return our call about whether the rowdy club was getting the boot to make way for their project. It doesn't sound like there's retail involved, but the seven-story Urban Village, South Park will have four live/work units, private roofdecks, a dog park, parking, and a fitness center. "While many projects in Downtown cater to students and offer a dorm-ish environment," the developer says in a statement, "Urban Village, South Park is a blend of harmony and amenities."
