The Spring Street Park has just opened, creating the first real green space in the Historic Core, and people are loving it. One problem: Downtowners American Apparel have backed out of their deal to help fund maintenance (which will cost about $100,000 a year; AmApp had committed that amount for five years). "It's uncertain why American Apparel backed out of its pledge. In an email to Los Angeles Downtown News, Ryan Holiday, a spokesman for American Apparel, confirmed that the company was in talks to sponsor the park, but that the plans did not come to fruition."
