It was a long time coming, but the Beverly West tower on the Wilshire Corridor is finally here. The building was under construction waaaay back in 2007 when it sold to Emaar Properties, a Dubai-based firm most famous for the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world. It spent the next several years just hanging out while work crawled along, but is finally ready for action and has even seen its first move-in. The BW is Emaar's first US property, and it's only a measly 22 stories (compared to the Burj's 160+), but it's got killer views of Century City, the Hills, Beverly Hills, Downtown on a clear day, and the Los Angles Country Club just below.
Beverly West only has 35 units--buyers have the option to customize their floorplans and finishes, so you'll notice they don't look so ready in these photos, taken last week. One model unit has been completed, but it sold recently (for $5 million), so obviously we couldn't peek in there. Units range from 1,700 to 8,215 square feet and most have dedicated elevators. We toured floor 17, the top penthouse on 22, and the 14 North unit, which is currently being built out and will probably have an asking price of $5.6 million. Asking prices range from about $1.4 million to about $22 million for floor 22.
The building has all the fancy amenities Candy Spelling might expect on the Corridor: a pool, a boardroom, a fitness center, a valet (in the back on Club View Dr., not on Wilshire), 24 hour lobby staff, and a full concierge. Pasadena-based Keating Khang Architecture designed the building; interiors are by Robert Hidey Architects with interior design by Plum Design West. Emaar is also offering five "designer-inspired" packages with furnishings from David Sutherland, Christian Liaigre, Ralph Lauren's City Modern line, Armani Casa, and James Perse's Malibu Collection.
