The Pacific Coast Business Times reports that developer Caruso Affiliated's plans to remake the Miramar Hotel in Montecito were approved today by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. Under that this revised proposal, the Miramar will include 186 rooms, rather than the originally approved 192. Noozhawk covers more of the changes (which were approved by the Montecito Planning Commission last month), which include nixing the ballroom building on the eastern portion of the site. With these changes Caruso Affiliated hopes the project will more "easily attract the financing needed to make it a reality." In 2007, Caruso purchased the historic hotel, which has sat vacant since 2000, from Beanie Babies titan Ty Warner.
