If earlier renderings of the Pugh + Scarpa-designed Cherokee Lofts project on Fairfax between Melrose and Santa Monica Blvd showed a brown-hued building, well, the project's gone silver. "We wanted to go with the platinum color to match the LEED platinum [status of the building]," says DeKoven Ashley, of developer ReThink. Nifty. According to Ashely, the building, which has an aluminum exterior, has been designated as work/live. This project, which joins 801 Fairfax apartments in this burgeoning neighborhood, will offer 12 residential lofts (two with recording studios) and 2,800 square feet of retail. Sales are expected to start in late summer, with construction wrapping in July. Pricing hasn't been announced yet.
