Today the 13-member Metro Board overwhelmingly authorized a half-cent sales tax increase to be placed on the November 4 ballot, the Los Angeles Times' Steve Hymon reports. Next step: getting the state legislature to authorize it, which Mayor Villaraigosa says he's confident will happen soon. If approved by voters, the measure would boost Los Angeles County's sales tax rate to 8.75 percent, and build gilded projects like the "subway to the sea." [LA Times]
