Buzz: Architect Frank Gehry Setting Up Shop in El Segundo
Wednesday, April 30, 2008, by Dakota

Well, this would explain the recent layoffs at Gehry Partners. A source tells Curbed that architect Frank Gehry's firm has purchased three buildings in an industrial part of El Segundo. The unconfirmed chatter: Frank Gehry is moving offices! The Golden Boy leaving Los Angeles proper! Architect Gehry, behind Disney Hall and the forthcoming but delayed Grand Avenue project, currently has offices at 12541 Beatrice Street. And as noted last week, the rumor mill is that at least 20 people were laid off from the firm. Background on El Segundo: It's south, near LAX, and was voted a very nice place to live last year by Money magazine.
